Derek has worked globally on the designing and renovation of hundreds of retail destinations in Europe and Asia. As Managing Director of the UK based Haskoll Architects and Designers from 1983 to 2022, Derek directed projects from operating offices in the UK and in China.

Derek’s 35-year experience and a particular skill for refurbishment and remodelling of projects has led to many highly successful developments, many of which have received local and international award recognition. Derek is an authority on how design and architectural solutions help to enhance consumer engagement. He is a regular expert speaker at global conferences such as: Revo, ICSC, NCSC, MAPIC, AEEC.

In 2013, Derek received the New York based International Council of Shopping Centers, Trustees’ Distinguished Service Award for outstanding service to the shopping centre industry.
